A: StemCyte’s
laboratory has numerous accreditations, licenses and certifications. In 2006, our StemCyte International Cord Blood Center met the
criteria for cord blood collection, processing, testing, banking, selection and
release of products, becoming the first and only laboratory in the world
accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT)
for autologous (personal use) donations. Additionally, StemCyte is
a National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)
member bank, is accredited
by the AABB (formerly the American Association of Blood Banks, and has a
California
state Biologics license. Our HLA
typing laboratory has a California state Clinical Laboratory License,
is accredited by CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act), and also is
accredited by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics
(ASHI). We are also licensed
in the four states currently requiring licenses which are California, Maryland,
New Jersey and New York.
